The Godfather is a trilogy of American crime films directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based upon Mario Puzo's novel of the same name, revolving around a fictional Italian-American crime family, the Corleone Family. The first movie came out in 1972, followed by The Godfather Part II in 1974 and The Godfather Part III in 1990. Puzo and Coppola co-wrote all three films, with Nino Rota composing the music for the first two films.
